Biden was on a path to lose the election, because he prioritized swaying "independent" voters, over driving turnout and engagement for the people that have already decided that racism, fascism, and insurrection are bad (Black voters).
Future president Harris is on trajectory to win, because so far she's doing much better with the US democratic base (Black voters).
So when news covers polling of who should be VP, do you think they prioritize Black voters' pick? Or independent voters pick?

I can't really take this poll seriously, as it doesn't have Mark Kelly on it, who has a backstory that most presidents would dream of. Not just an astronaut. A commander of astronauts.
Politically, he significantly outperformed Biden in AZ, especially with Latino voters. He'd probably also deliver Nevada, and would resonate well in rust belt states, esp. when talking jobs.
Also, doesn't hurt that if you went to central casting for a POTUS, he'd be there, staring back at you.
For some Democrats, Vice President Mark Kelly has a nice ring to it.www.azpm.org

Whitmer has said she’s not interested though. Or at least she wasn’t interested in running for President.
It looks like the next best pick after that would be Josh Shapiro, although he’s not a close second by any means.
@MisuseCase Shapiro has some issues of his own

based on this data I'd go with Mayor Pete if not Whitmer. 11% vs 12% is within margin of error

I really feel like this kind of poll is just about name recognition.
Did you know that a significant portion of voters had no idea the vice president was a Black woman? They are learning that now and getting to know her.
@futurebird
This is also part of why I hate plurality polls with more than two options.
Which of these is your _first_ choice with 100 options is going to create a very different signal and is basically always going to come down to name recognition and name retention.
An approval or a condorcet system wouldn't have this problem, but that's not what they use.

I wish it were more complicated than this but:
Whitmer is popular with Black voters, because she is a Dem who does not have many anti-Black policies. She actually keeps campaign promises to help all people, and doesn't do horrifically anti-Black things like most Dem candidates. 🤷🏿♂️
She treats Black people and white people the same, and she stands up to racists.
